Raised in the desert and bred for war — not savages but soldiers: disciplined, devout, and fanatical in their good.
Created: c. year 200 (Second Age), by Atlas · Order: Sandborn
Story
Atlas raised them in the Obsidian Desert with an order of warriors, the Sandborn. They live for glory and war, and wage it with discipline: drilled, ranked, sworn, and certain of their cause. They became masters of war beasts (c. year 300). Atlas raised them armies, founded their Orc War Camps (c. year 400), and the Hollow Knight gave them a second army (c. year 500).
Around year 600 the Hollow Knight led them to take Glaive Port (Fall of Glaive Port), the heart of a Great Orkish Empire in the making. But the occupiers found city life better than the desert, and their ruling caste rotted into brutes. The desert orcs said that is not the way. They gathered the magic crystals of the sands and fused them into the obelisk of the Final End. Around year 610 the Hollow Knight, disgusted, abandoned them.
Now
The desert orcs are good but fanatical and keep the Final End; their camps have no armies left. The Glaive Port orcs are corrupted and are nominal rulers only, beneath the Mycomancers.
