A natural fortress the size of a country, walls of almost perfectly flat stone — broken open by a falling star.
Raised: c. 1,000 years before year zero (First Age), by Atlas. Struck: year zero (Second Age), by Svarog — the Second Meteor.
Story
Atlas raised walls of almost perfectly flat stone from the ground, as if someone had built a natural fortress the size of a country, with natural gates and arches.
The Second Age began with catastrophe. Svarog dropped a smaller meteor (some two megatons) on the First Fortress at the very moment the Dwarves were migrating into it, and blew it open with terrible loss; an entire dwarven order that had split off to go ahead was wiped out. The dwarves remember it as their great wound, the one that only hardened them. The Time Keepers date all time from it: year zero is the falling star that landed far in the west with a great roar.
Now
The second meteor’s site has never been investigated.
