A near-perfect ring of mountain holding a deep lake at enormous height — until a god struck it.
Raised: c. 1,000 years before year zero (First Age), by Atlas. Collapsed: c. year 640 (Third Age), by Astralis.
Story
Atlas raised a near-perfect ring of mountain (he drew the circle drunk) with, instead of a summit, a rift holding a deep lake at enormous height. With the Perpetual Tempest — the Right Eye of Atlas — it makes the pair.
Around year 640, late in Age III, Astralis, angry that Atlas would suppress magic after the Shattering, struck him in the eye: the Left Eye collapsed on one side and its waters flooded the War Zone into swamp. The armies stopped knowing friend from foe, and men who had been killing each other hauled each other out of the quicksand.
Now
Broken on one side; its waters made the War Zone a swamp, where humans and centaurs fight water elves forever.
