Mountains that fall sheer into a fog-bound sea, like Velebit. No great city will ever stand there.
Raised: c. 1,000 years before year zero (First Age), by Svarog.
Story
Along the coast of the Eternal Fog, Svarog raised the Misty Mountains, falling sheer into the sea.
Around year 500, late in Age II, Astralis raised the Spider People in the southern mountains — some centaur-like on a spider’s body, some humanoid with extra eyes, ranked by how truly spider they are. Their order, the Threadspinners, plays silk strings to speak and pass on knowledge.
Around year 610 Astralis allied the Water Elves and the Spider People — both neutral, a Switzerland — trading sea-lore for the paths through the Misty Mountains. Some ten years later, around year 620, the Spider People helped the Grove drive out Glaive Port’s armies in the Great Battle of the Third Age.
Now
The Spider People keep their webs and paths here, allied with the water elves.
