The far end of the world: hilly, bitterly cold — snow, ice, the pole.
Made: c. 1,000 years before year zero (First Age), by Sylvanus.
Story
Sylvanus made the far end of the world hilly and bitterly cold. The Silver One, Astralis’s avatar, wandered there and was snowed on.
At the Coming of Magic (year zero) one of the four known Great Crystals appeared here, near where Coldspire would stand. Around year 100 Sylvanus brought the Ice Giants out of the Frozen North — good healers — whose order, the Hands of Elyndra, learned through the crystal to channel healing magic. Around year 300 Atlas founded Coldspire in the cold north, stone and ice on a raised hill.
The giants went to liberate Glaive Port and were broken (Elyndra’s Defeat, c. year 610); some ten years later, around year 620, what remained withdrew to Coldspire. At the Shattering (c. year 630) the northern crystal cracked.
Now
The crystal is cracked; the last Ice Giants, rare now and with few healers left, shelter in Coldspire.
