Soil so rich that whatever you plant is up the next day.

Made: c. 2,000 years before year zero (First Age), by Astralis.

Story

Astralis laid the Great Plains — soil so rich that whatever you plant is up the next day, watered from below. In the same years Atlas, his heart of conflict softening, drew the River of Life to feed them.

In the first years after year zero Astralis made the Humans here, along the River of Life: neutral, featureless, breeding easily and spreading, their first order the peaceful Cradle. Around year 300 Sylvanus founded Greenhaven on the river, and around year 400 Astralis founded Heart of the Plains, the human city.

Around year 610 Sylvanus raised the Tree of Life on the southern plains, just east of the meteor bay. Around year 620 Heart of the Plains raised the Ballista Tower; around year 630 its armies and Greenhaven’s went to the War Zone. At the end of the Age the Third Meteor struck the mountain slopes beside the city: earthquake and mudslides broke it, buried armies, made another swamp and a crater-lake, and cracked the Ballista.

Now

Humans everywhere, the dominant city-builders. Heart of the Plains lies broken, its Ballista cracked; Greenhaven is dwarf-ruled; the Tree of Life is hidden within the Grove.
