A crater as deep as a canyon and perfectly round, where the first stone fell from the sky.

Story

Svarog, being chaos, let chaos choose his place and struck the near-centre of the continent with something from the sky. It left a crater as deep as a canyon and perfectly round, riddled with tunnels and cavities, perhaps once far deeper than anyone now knows. Around it he baked the land into a desert where no moisture survives; with Atlas’s later desert it became the Obsidian Desert.

The Breach Falls. Around 5,000 years before year zero Atlas opened the far side of Sky Spear, and a sister river to the Slithering River ran the other way into Svarog’s arid land — narrowing from a torrent to a wide stream and pouring over the rim of World’s Breach in one of the most spectacular waterfalls any race will ever see. That side of the crater is forever wrapped in mist; the water never forms a lake but sinks through the fissured floor into the Underdark.

Around 4,000 years before year zero Sylvanus cracked the earth where the sky-stone had struck into the Gorge of the Titans, an open wound reaching the sea. The Void Glance of Age II, far to the east of it, left World’s Breach untouched.

Around year 500, late in Age II, the Cinderwing Cartel, sent by Svarog’s prophecy, found that shards of the first meteor make portal magic far stronger nearby, and that far from the shards it is almost impossible. Nobody knows what the meteor was.

Now

The grounded Cartel chases portals and meteor shards, and the Mages’ Guild buys meteor fragments at the Bazaar.
