Water elves who went too far, turned inward, and want only to be left alone — and then to rule the seas.

Founded: c. 1,000 years before year zero (First Age), by Sylvanus through Sylvariel · Evil · City: Nerathis

Story

Late in the First Age, c. 1,000 years before year zero, Sylvariel moved among the elves: a party of Explorers who reached a far place turned inward and became secluded xenophobes — evil — who want only to be left alone.

Age II. Sylvanus founded a first city for them, Nerathis (in the first years after year zero). Around year 300 Svarog corrupted it, and Sylvanus advanced it into a shipyard of warships of doom, for the secluded elves meant to rule the seas.

Age III. Around year 600 their warships raided every settlement along the rich northern shores and took a foothold (Sylvanus); the Fire Genasi raised an army as the elven ships sailed past their island. Sylvanus then bound corrupted Glaive Port to them in the Evil Alliance. Around year 610 generations of inbreeding cost them a whole generation’s shipbuilding (Astralis): their raiders are now small fast boats of twenty, and for a while there will be no new ones. Around year 630 Atlas’s Shattering broke the great crystal on their island — chosen, it is said, by chance — and the surge spread monstrosities. Around year 640 Svarog corrupted the whole water elf civilisation into arrogance and decadence.

Now

Their island holds the shattered crystal: wild magic and monstrosities, densest here. A decadent, corrupted elf navy that can’t build new ships for a generation — decadent, rebuilding.
